Sunshine Readers

Reading-Matters

Welcome to The Sunshine Readers, the literacy arm of Andy Hull’s Sunshine Foundation.

“Reading Matters; You Matter” is our motto.

Our mission is to show children that they matter by showing up to read to their classrooms on a weekly basis. Training and resources are provided to volunteers and the teacher remains in the room; so don’t worry.  I guarantee, this will be the most fun you’ve ever had volunteering!

Once you get on our e-mail list you will receive:

  • Periodic book suggestions, literacy information and articles. (see attachments)
  • A supply of “You Matter” wristbands for your class(es).
  • Training materials, supplied at orientation.
  • Use www.storylineonline.net as a free resource for training. You can see and hear famous actors reading children’s books aloud. There is also a “lesson plan” of related activities and questions for each story
  • Gently used books for your classrooms
