Janet DeJonge is a Phoenix native graduating from Washington High School and the University of Arizona. She has been married for 26 years to Dave and has 2 adult children, Sarah 24 and Tim 22 who live in Plymouth, MN.
Janet and Dave spent the last 20 years in Plymouth, MN raising their children. Janet was very involved with the children’s schools serving on PTO and volunteering. She was also a leader for Community Bible Study for 10 years.
She returned to Phoenix for a few years and served as a wish granter for Make A Wish, an Oasis tutor and Sunshine Reader at Camelview Elementary and volunteered at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
Recently she moved back to Minnesota and now serves the director for The Sunshine Readers program as part of Andy Hull’s Sunshine Foundation’s literacy arm. It is her joy reading to kids and letting them know they matter. She is honored to be on the board of the Sunshine Foundation and looks forward to growing the Sunshine Reader Program.
Just days before moving to Phoenix, her 17 year old nephew committed suicide. The SunShine Foundation fits in with her goal to “Make A Difference” so others do not consider suicide an option and families do not have to face the devastation of suicide.
